Pay Range: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour

 

Responsibilities

 

This individual will assist buyers in responsibilities surrounding purchasing and inventory management:

  • Ensure that vendors receive our purchase orders and process order confirmations sent to them.
  • Research and resolve price discrepancies between purchase orders and vendor invoices.
  • Perform vendor and item setup and maintenance.
  • Set up special order item numbers, place special orders and drop shipments, monitor and follow up on unshipped special orders.
  • Perform pricing uploads.
  • Oversee non-stock item programs, including maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Work directly with vendors, category management, and the sales department to identify and liquidate products that are aged inventory, have a short shelf life, and/or are overstocked.
  • Assist buyers with vendor issues, including product returns and requests for item or price information.
  • Self-starter with initiative, curiosity, and a strong desire to learn and grow within the business.
  • Analyze & Act: Present reporting and synthesize data to support SKU maintenance, rationalization, aged inventory management, and category performance.
  • Coordinate Promotional Activity: Help execute vendor-funded programs and seasonal promotions, ensuring budgets, item details, and timelines are aligned.
  • Complete Special Projects: Tackle process improvements and cross-departmental projects that contribute to business success.
  • Support Where Needed: Take on additional tasks as assigned by department leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Great communication skills are critical to success in this job. Candidates must be outstanding communicators and be able to work effectively with diverse individuals, often under pressure and time constraints.
  • High school degree required; college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Purchasing experience in the food service industry preferred.
  • Computer literacy is essential, including MS Word and Excel; experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or other online communication tools is helpful.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to organize and prioritize workload, and ability to work well with all levels of associates and customers.
  • Must be customer-focused and able to provide excellent service for both internal and external customers.
  • Great time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize a heavy workload required.

Hybrid work schedule: A minimum of one day every Wednesday and Thursday is required in the office. The number of days in the office may increase.
